Welcome to the registration page for Whitworth University’s 125th Anniversary Celebration Weekend! Whether you’re an alum reuniting with former classmates, family visiting your current student, or a friend of the university, we’re excited you will be with us to celebrate Whitworth’s past and present during this full weekend of events. Please take a look at the schedule below, and then click “Register Now” to select the options best suited to you. The online form will give you the opportunity to select activities in which you’d like to participate during the weekend.

Once you have entered the registration form, you must complete all of the information and pay using a credit/debit card for your registration to be submitted. If you start the form and then close it before submitting payment, you will be unable to access your original form again and will be required to start from the beginning.

Art Exhibit: Running the Numbers: Portraits of Mass Consumption º

Chris Jordan's exhibit, Running the Numbers, looks at contemporary American culture through the austere lens of statistics. Each image portrays a specific quantity of something: fifteen million sheets of office paper (five minutes of paper use); 106,000 aluminum cans (thirty seconds of can consumption) and so on. This project visually examines these vast and bizarre measures of our society, in large intricately detailed prints assembled from thousands of smaller photographs.


President's Leadership Forum featuring Condoleezza Rice *

Whitworth is excited to welcome former U. S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice as our speaker for the Fall President’s Leadership Forum at the Spokane Convention Center. Tickets are $60 per person and include lunch. Pre-registration is required. If you have already registered for this event, you do not need to register again.

Drop in to enjoy some refreshments and a quick tour of Hardwick House, the new home of the Whitworth Office of Alumni & Parent Relations.

Revisit your student days and stop by the HUB any time after noon to register for available classes where you can sit in with current students. Classes will run from 12:50-1:45 p.m. and 1:55-2:50 p.m. Class sessions will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.


Planting the Quasquicentennial Tree

Please join President Beck A. Taylor for a brief program celebrating the forested campus that is a Whitworth hallmark, as we plant a ceremonial tree in the loop in honor of our 125th year.


Friday Campus Tour º
3:30-4:30 p.m. | Tours begin at the HUB.

 
This one-hour walking tour of Whitworth’s 200-acre campus of beautiful facilities and tall pines will begin promptly at the HUB at 3:30 p.m. Transportation for those with limited mobility will be available.
 
 
Office of Church Engagement Reception +
5-6 p.m. | Seeley Mudd Chapel

Whitworth is starting a new initiative called the Office of Church Engagement (OCE) to serve churches in the Pacific Northwest and other regions, as we connect the resources of the university with the specific needs of congregations as God’s people bear witness to the grace and truth of Jesus Christ in a highly complex, rapidly changing cultural landscape. We invite you to come and hear about several new OCE programs and more to be developed in the future.  This event is complimentary and pre-registration is requested, but not required.

Torchbearers Exhibit Opening Reception º

Come see Torchbearers, a new exhibit honoring people and things that help to tell the lasting story of Whitworth’s mission for the past 125 years. The display is also open throughout the weekend during normal library hours.


Cutter-Era Reunion Dinner *
5:30 p.m. | McClain's Pizzeria - 10208 N Division Suite 104


Join Coach Ross Cutter for a dinner gathering of alumni who played tennis during his era (alums from the era of 1954-’97). Guests of alumni from this era are encouraged to attend, as well. Your registration fee of $15 covers your meal; beverages may be purchased at the event. Pre-registration is required.


Class of 1984 Get-Together

Alumni from the class of 1984 are invited to a get-together on Friday evening at The Hearth (Drs. Jim and Linda Hunt's property near campus). Details to follow.

Families of current students are warmly invited to join us for a dessert reception in the HUB. Mingle with other parents and students, and then, if you like, attend the fall theatre production.

Whitworth Theatre’s fall production is The Drowsy Chaperone, a 2006 Tony Award-winning parody of 1920s musical comedies. Full of amusement, illusions, and energetic dance numbers (not to mention a group wedding on an airplane), The Drowsy Chaperone celebrates the value of entertainment in our lives.

Tickets purchased prior to Friday, Oct. 3, will be ready for pick-up when you check in for the weekend. Tickets purchased after Friday, Oct. 3, will be at Will Call, listed under the name of the primary registrant. Will Call will open one hour prior to the performance.

McMillan Hall 100th Anniversary Celebration º

A century ago, Whitworth broke ground for its first building in Spokane: McMillan Hall. Mac Hall, as it is affectionately known, has served many generations of Whitworthians in various capacities. All guests are welcome to attend a short program to celebrate McMillan Hall’s 100th anniversary on the building’s front lawn. An open house will be available immediately following the program until 1 p.m.
 
 
Lunch in The Loop ^

Each member of the Whitworth family is welcome to attend Lunch in The Loop, one of the signature events of the weekend. Join us as we celebrate a longstanding tradition of community among staff, faculty, students, families, alumni, and friends with good food and live music.

Advance registration prices are $12 per adult (11+), $5 per child (5-10). At the door, the registration price will be $15 per adult (11+).


Football Game vs. Willamette University

Help cheer on the Pirates as they take on Northwest Conference foe Willamette University! All registered guests and alumni may attend the football game for free, thanks to the Whitworth Athletics Department. Please show your nametag at the main gate. Kid-friendly activities will be available throughout the game.


Choir Reunion Rehearsal º

If you were part of a choral group while you were a student at Whitworth, you are invited to participate in a choir performance during the Community Worship Service on Sunday morning. To prepare for this performance, all participants are asked to attend this rehearsal.

Childcare *
5-9 p.m. | Spokane Convention Center  – 334 W. Spokane Falls Blvd.

 
Childcare, supervised by certified staff, is available for children 0-10 years old during the Saturday-evening activities at the Convention Center. Cost is $30 per child and includes kid-friendly food and drinks. The childcare will be set up in a room adjacent to the location of the 125th Anniversary Celebration. The registration deadline for childcare is Friday, Oct. 3.
 

125th Anniversary Celebration +

Join the Whitworth community for one of the primary events of the weekend. Whitworth’s 125th Anniversary Celebration will be an opportunity to join with the entire family as we hear remarks from President Beck A. Taylor and take a look into our past, present, and future. This event will feature performances from all four of Whitworth’s large music ensembles and the debut of a short film commissioned for the occasion.
 
As a gift to the Whitworth community, this event, including substantial hors d’oeuvres, is complimentary for all guests. A no-host bar will be available.


Reunion Dessert Receptions ^
7-9 p.m. | Spokane Convention Center – 334 W. Spokane Falls Blvd.

 
Take the opportunity to catch up and celebrate your reunion with your classmates following the 125th Anniversary Celebration downtown!  We are offering a dessert reception for the following reunion groups: Class of 1954, Class of 1974, Class of 1984, Class of 1994, classes of 2004 and 2009, and choral groups. Each reunion group will have a separate dessert reception to allow for meaningful connections between classmates.
 
The reunion receptions will be in the Spokane Convention Center, close to the location of the 125th Anniversary Celebration. A no-host bar will be available. Advance registration price is $12 per person ($10 per person for the Class of 2009). At the door, the registration price will be $15 per person.

The entire Whitworth Community is invited to worship together during one of the signature events of the weekend. This service will include a performance by the Choral Reunion choir.

At the conclusion of the Community Worship Service, please join us for brunch in the HUB to conclude the weekend.
